One of the most important parts of client acquisition is not only finding the clients but knowing what your future clients may need help with. A very important part of creating client relationships is thinking ahead on what services you will be offering your future and current clients.
How to Do This
First, let's talk about the elephant in the room and talk about how the new Presidential Administration may affect future business decisions.
- People may decide to change how they approach their business services because the business atmosphere has changed. Your job is to spend some time researching what your clients are concerned about so that you can better leverage your offerings. How do you do this? You can do a survey, ask in your closed Facebook, talk to people face-to-face, hang out in Facebook groups to see what people are saying, and do keyword searches in Google Keywords, BuzzSumo, or AnswerThePublic for more insight into what people are thinking.
- Use your intuition-I don't know why more people don't talk about this. It might be a bit woo-woo for a lot of people. But, if you're paying attention to patterns or trends that you think will affect your clients' business.
- Attend local meetings such as Spark Freelancer's Union where they have monthly meetings. Talk to the people in the room and write down notes.
- Do live stream videos so that you can bring the public to you from the comfort of your home.
Market research is the key to running your business. Be ahead of the curve. Spend some time doing what's called "Research and Development." Big businesses do this as a way to grow their businesses.
Also, future clients may change the service that they offer because of how they perceive external issues affecting their own lives.
